A world full of fun, wonder and amazement is on the agenda for this year’s Moreton Kids Festival.
A love of performing and seeing the imagination of children come to life is a big part of why Teneille Douglas is an entertainer. She’s bright, bubbly and radiates joy whenever children are near, so it’s no surprise that Teneille feels most at home up on a stage or roving around a festival – it’s her happy place. That’s exactly where you’ll find her on Sunday, 10 March for the Moreton Kids Festival where fun, entertainment, magic, rides, food and so much more will fill Pine Rivers Park for families to enjoy.
It seems Teneille was always destined to head down the path of being a performer. It’s been in her blood for many years and entertaining appears to come naturally to her.
“I have been performing since I was young, then I had a break while I had my own children,” Teneille says. “However, I opened up a small business called Neighbourhood Creche where I taught music and performing arts to so many beautiful families. It was an honour to watch them engage through my classes and see so many of them grow, both with what they learnt and as little people.
“I now get to perform almost every single day for several different companies and travel around a bit when I can. It’s the best job being able to do something that I love!”
Colourful outfits, bubbles, singing, dancing and even walking on stilts, there isn’t much Teneille can’t do. This year marks her seventh year of performing at the Moreton Kids Festival.
“Being a children's performer, this is the place to be! I love how well MBRIT organise their events and Moreton Kids Festival is a top choice for kids of all ages,” Teneille says. “It's definitely a highlight for me to be involved and this is why I love having the opportunity to keep going back.
“My favourite part is that there is literally something to do, look at, watch, play or eat in every section of the festival. I also love that all the performers and contractors are so happy to be involved with the event.”
Moreton Kids Festival was first held in 2017 and the past two events have sold out. The festival, presented by City of Moreton Bay and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter and boundless fun for families.
“The festival is designed to be an immersive experience where kids can let their imagination soar and families can create cherished memories together," MBRIT CEO Natassia Wheeler says. “We're proud to host an event that provides incredible value for families, offering unlimited fun and entertainment at a fraction of the cost of other outings. The Moreton Kids Festival has become a yearly phenomenon, representing just one of the 50 engaging events that MBRIT organises annually."
Families attending this year's festival will find themselves immersed in a wonderland of excitement, with activities that include but are not limited to:
• Five worlds of fun (Fun Kids, Creative Kids, Active Kids, Tiny Tots, Green Kids)
• Unlimited rides
• Live stage shows
• Kids activities
• Workshops
• Educational displays
• Market stalls
• Food trucks
• And much more!
If you have a little PAW Patrol fan on your hands, here’s something that will have them jumping with joy. This year’s headline act will include their favourite pups Chase and Marshall, with Ryder.
“Moreton Kids Festival is one of our most popular events on the calendar every year and it continues to grow exponentially as one of the best dedicated kids festivals in the country,” City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery says. “I’m always blown away by the stellar line-up and I can say we’re very excited to see the highly sought-after PAW Patrol coming to Moreton Bay.”
Other acts you can catch on the day will include:
The Mini Moshers
Red Rocket 3
Peppermint Ollie
SuperSteph Magic Show
The Magic Bumpkins
And of course, Teneille!
As the festival draws closer, Teneille is busy preparing to hit the stage and she wants to see all the families joining in.
“I can't wait to see all your happy faces at the Moreton Kids Festival this year!” Teneille says. “This year I will be performing a mermaid show on the Main Stage and the Little Groovers Stage.
“I'll be performing with a dear friend of mine and I also get to share the stage with my 10-year-old daughter as she will have a small part in the show too! There’s nothing greater than sharing my passion alongside my family.”
While you often hear people say ‘don’t work with kids’, Teneille thrives on it.
“I love the way the imagination works in children,” she says. “I love how they truly believe in magic and I love how I can make their dreams come true when they meet their favourite character.
“But there’s so much more. I love making children laugh, I love making parents smile and I love the special moments when children learn something. It's something that also keeps me young, fit, healthy and I love being a great role model, not only for children but also anyone else who wants to head down this path as well.”
Given the overwhelming popularity of this event, families are encouraged to secure their tickets early to avoid missing out on a fantastic day in the park. Head along for a day brimming with adventure, laughter and discovery at the Moreton Kids Festival 2024 – an event that promises an unparalleled experience for the entire family.
