Morayfield’s Kids in Care Christmas Toy Appeal will celebrate its massive handover of Christmas gifts at Morayfield Shopping Centre on Saturday, December 10.
Now in its twelfth year, the Kids in Care Christmas Toy Appeal accepts donations from individuals, businesses, and community groups in the Caboolture/Morayfield area, before handing over the festive bounty to staff from the Department of Child Safety.
“This year, a new community organisation, Kindness for Kids in Care, has been established to run the annual Kids in Care Christmas Toy Appeal and continue that spirit of kindness throughout the year.”
This year the annual toy drive is being run by a new, community-led organisation called Kindness for Kids in Care.
“The Kids in Care Christmas Toy Appeal has grown in leaps and bounds since the late Michele Rigger and I started collecting toys more than a decade ago,” said State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan.
“This year, a new community organisation, Kindness for Kids in Care, has been established to run the annual Kids in Care Christmas Toy Appeal and continue that spirit of kindness throughout the year.”
As well as presents at Christmas time, the new organisation aims to keep the support for kids in care going all year round, like providing a suitcase to take their belongings, supplying appropriate toiletries, helping them get started when they’re ready to live on their own, and so much more.
“We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of the community,” said Kindness for Kids in Care Chairperson Prue Aranovitch.
“The spirit of giving is certainly alive and well here in the Moreton Bay region.”
