Keys to the Kingdom: New Fernhill Opening Soon

The keys to Bolton Clarke’s new Fernhill residential aged care building were handed over yesterday

in an exciting milestone marking the one-month countdown to the building’s opening in October.

Fernhill Residential Manager Ram Korla officially took delivery of the state-of-the-art building from Hansen Yuncken Senior Project Engineer Terry Welch, who has overseen the two-year construction project.

The project milestone has allowed resident and family tours to commence, with residents excited to take a sneak peek prior to moving into their new home.

Fernhill residents Don Byrant and Coral Mills were among the first to inspect their rooms, touring the building with their family.

“Wow! Just wow! I can’t believe this place is going to be my new home!” Don said.

Coral and her family were also impressed.

“I would be surprised if there was a better designed and built one in Queensland,” shared John Mills, Coral’s son.

Mr Korla said excitement was building as move-in day and the official opening approached.

“The feedback from the tours has been overwhelmingly positive – several residents have likened the new community building to that of a 5-star hotel,” he said.

“We are pleased to hear that residents love the look of their new home. It has been thoughtfully designed to deliver best practice support in a contemporary and comfortable environment.”

The new Fernhill community features innovative supported-living neighbourhoods named after key figures in Fernhill’s history.

Each neighbourhood provides residents with localised security and safety and encourages a sense of community.

“We are proud to honour the Newman family name (after the Caboolture family who donated the original Newman mansion to serve as the first War Veteran’s Home) in our Newman Memory Support Centre,” Mr Korla said.

The final touches are being added as furniture is delivered and common areas are made ready for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Mr Korla, together with Fernhill Administration Officer Kim-lee Hare have begun final preparations to welcome existing Fernhill residents to their new home within weeks, with general admissions to follow from late October.
