After months laying mostly vacant, BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort is set to re-open on June 13th for travellers and holiday makers in light of the new eased restrictions. In just a week since announcing bookings were open, the resort has seen unprecedented demand and a huge influx in bookings placed. Making it evident that Queenslander’s will holiday here this year.
BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort first opened in November 2018 and within a year of operation became the highest selling BIG4 Park in Australia. Making waves in the holiday park industry from day one, the resort has become one of Moreton Bay’s biggest tourism destinations. After less than 2 years of operation, the resort was forced to shut its doors and wait for the coronavirus storm to blow over.
With the falling economy and new restrictions only allowing non-essential travellers within 250kms, many Australians have pledged their loyalty to the national #holidayherethisyear campaign.
Owner of BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort and Comiskey Group Director, Rob Comiskey is pleased to see so much support from his fellow Australians.
“It’s great to see so many Aussies band together to support one another by eating at local cafes and restaurants. Given our huge spike in bookings since re-opening, it seems that people are also keen to get out of the house and support local accommodation too! Last week we had the most amount of bookings placed out of all Queensland’s BIG4 holiday parks!”
Behind the resort is the Comiskey Group who are also responsible for Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point Hotel, Beachmere Hotel and Samford Hotel. The group were hugely impacted by COVID-19 given their operations in the hospitality industry.
“It has been a very rough few months for everyone. We lost over 85% of our revenue and stood down over 400 staff. The resort being able to open soon has been our saving grace and that’s thanks to the support of our guests”
Though business was at a standstill, the Comiskey Group were not.
“During this quiet time we have been planning for the future and looking for ways to improve our visitors’ experience with plans to expand the holiday resort adding 22 more Villas and Safari Tents as well as even more exciting new facilities! We are currently looking at adding a pump track, flying fox, spa and more to our list of world-class facilities. During this time, management have also been going through guest suggestions for implementation where possible; we have even just ordered some really lush daybeds for around the pool thanks to a guest suggestion. I look forward to opening soon with a CovidSafe Management Plan in place and finalising plans for the all new facilities”
BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort is re-opening with a special so guests can stay longer for less!
