Hockey enthusiasts will have plenty to celebrate this Christmas with the Pine Hills Lightning Hockey Club Inc. securing more than $29,000 in the first round of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Grants Program for 2018/19.
“Moreton Bay Region isn’t just a beautiful place to live and visit; it’s also growing in popularity as a destination for major sporting events and competition,” Cr Constance said.
“To keep that momentum going, it’s vital we provide quality sporting facilities so teams can compete at their very best level.
“By installing LED lights, players will have more opportunity to play and train longer; another plus, it’s also good for the environment so it’s a win, win for all.
“Council’s Community Grants Program is really about empowering community organisations to take pride and ownership in making the Moreton Bay Region an even better place to live and visit and this grant will help the club hit plenty of goals now and into the future.
“There is so many benefits to physical activity and installing new lights will enable more young children to get outdoors, get active and play a new sport they wouldn’t have had a chance to previously.”
Cr Constance said he was also excited to announce $2000 to C&K Arana Hills for a new interactive whiteboard and stand.
“These grants are a great investment in our community and I look forward to seeing these projects, and initiatives brought to life to benefit our local residents.”
Cr Constance congratulated all successful applicants and encouraged other community groups and individuals interested in applying for the next round of the Community Grants Program to visit council’s website for more information.
Applications for the second round of the 2018-19 program will open on February 1.
