Progress on new Caboolture police station.

Police Minister Mark Ryan MP and Acting Superintendent Paul Ready attended the site of the new Caboolture police station and District Headquarters today.

The new station will be one of the largest outside of the Brisbane CBD, including purpose-built areas for the Criminal Investigation Branch and special investigative teams, the Child Protection Investigation Unit, the Suspected Child Abuse Network (SCAN) officer, a Patrol Inspector, a Detective Inspector, General Duties, Crime Prevention Unit and intelligence.

Acting Superintendent Ready said this new station would improve capability for frontline officers in the community.

“The new technologies and resources, as well as the station’s proximity to District Headquarters, will allow for a streamlined delivery of modern policing services in the district,” Acting Superintendent Ready said.

The Police Minister said the project has provided opportunities for local workers in construction, electrical, plumbing, security and landscaping, which has been of significant benefit to Caboolture.

“The people of Caboolture and the District will benefit immensely from the increased policing capabilities offered by this new station and District Headquarters,” the Minister said.

The station and headquarters are being built by Badge Construction, a contract awarded under the Buy Queensland initiative which aims to provide hundreds of employment opportunities for local businesses.

The construction is progressing and the steel framework and roof sheeting are complete on both buildings. With a budget of $15,800,000, the spend for 2018/19 sits at $11, 687,000, and the expected practical completion date is likely to be June 2019.
