Division 3 has secured funding for upgrades to local roads, parks and paths including a major upgrade for Oakey Flat Road, Morayfield in Moreton Bay Regional Council’s 2018/19 Budget.
Councillor Adam Hain made the announcement following the adoption of the Budget on Friday, June 1 and said as part of the Budget, more than $10 million would be allocated towards major road and transport infrastructure in the local area.
“Following on from major investments in local road upgrades for 17/18, council continues its commitment with $3 million allocated towards the first stage of the Oakey Flat Road upgrade at Morayfield,” Cr Hain said.
“A further $3 million has also been allocated to finalise the Cundoot Creek Bridge construction, while $3.6 million will be invested in road resurfacing projects across Division 3.
Cr Hain also announced $1.2 million towards construction on the Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail. “Already over $800,000 worth of local road upgrades at Smiths Road have been completed previously by council as part of first stage works and this funding will go towards delivering the 10.5km long cycling and walking link, connecting Caboolture to the hinterland area.
Funding has also been allocated for:
Caboolture - Brown Street Corridor - Road Construction and Upgrade: $140,000
Morayfield - Graham Road - Road and Intersection Upgrade: $100,000
Caboolture - Pumicestone Road - Road and Intersection Upgrade planning: $50,000
Caboolture - Watts Street - Traffic Calming: $30,000
Cr Hain said in keeping with council’s ongoing commitment to lifestyle and parks, an additional $350,000 would be allocated towards the construction of a wetland area at Bluebell Street Park.
“$255,000 will be invested in upgrading Summerfields Drive Park, Caboolture and $27,000 has been secured for a trial with Healthy Land and Water to help preserve the Caboolture River.
“This follows on from council and the State Government’s $1.4 million refurbishment program for Centenary Lakes, which will also see local job seekers gain new opportunities and recognised qualifications.
“As part of the Budget, council will additionally invest $500,000 for stormwater infrastructure and detention basin upgrades for Male Road Caboolture, plus a further $20,000 towards culvert and drainage improvements for King Street, Moodlu and Mark Street, Morayfield.
“Division 3 has gone from strength to strength in recent years with ongoing local road projects and continued upgrades to recreational spaces and the local CBD area, and this budget ensures that we continue to kick goals and invest our community.
