Moreton Bay Remembers

On April 25, Moreton Bay residents will pause to remember the lives lost during World War One.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said there would be Anzac Day commemorative services held at 17 locations across the region to give residents the opportunity to show their respect for “our fallen war heroes”.

“Our defence personnel risked their lives to protect the unique lifestyle we enjoy today and they deserve our support,” Mayor Sutherland said.

Mayor Sutherland said he encouraged all residents in the Moreton Bay Region to pay their respects at one of the many local Anzac Day services in the region.

“From Beachmere to Woody Point, Dayboro to Kallangur and Caboolture, the Return Services League and local community groups will be hosting Anzac Day services throughout the region and I’m urging the community to show its respect and appreciation for the sacrifices that have been made for our liberty.

“The Redcliffe Dawn Service has seen 10,000 people in attendance paying their respects to those who served and died in conflict.

“The Anzac Day service at Samford will give children the opportunity to dress up in army gear and take part in a treasure hunt. So this is a perfect opportunity to educate our young residents about the significance of April 25.

“By holding these services across the region it gives everyone the opportunity to attend and remember more than 100 years of ANZAC.”

Mayor Sutherland will attend the main service at Redcliffe Anzac Day, April 25.

Anzac Day services will also be held at Bray Park, Bribie Island, Burpengary, Deception Bay, Donnybrook, Gaythorne, Mt Mee, Redcliffe, Samford, Toorbul, Wamuran and Woodford.
