Registration for Australia's Biggest Mother's Day Event is Now Open!

The Mother’s Day Classic (MDC) is back in Joyner bringing the community together to raise awareness for a worthy cause.

On Sunday, the 13th of May Joyner will gather to remember and support loved ones affected by breast cancer.

“This is the fourth year for the Joyner event, last year we reached a total number of around 800 participants, this year we would be very excited to grow and reach 1000 participates walking and running to raise awareness for breast cancer,” Mr Boyden said.

Mother’s Day Classic CEO Sharon Morris mentioned that this is not your average fun run/walk.

“It is a powerful day for families and friends to support breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to the disease,” Ms Morris said.

“Mother’s Day Classic is not about breaking speed records. Our focus is on participation, whether you walk, run or volunteer. Many people have fun dressing up: you’ll see everything from pink gorillas to teams in tutus” Ms Morris said.

The Mother’s Day Classic holds over 100 events nationwide on Mother’s Day, more than 90 of these are in regional areas and are organised by volunteers like Mr Boyden.

“The MDC has raised over 33.2 million dollars for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and events like this event in Joyner have played an enormous role in helping us reach that amazing figure,” MDC CEO Sharon Morris said.

“Some of our most successful years have been driven by the great support we receive from our regional events. And I expect this year to be no different, our regional events are organized by some of our most passionate and community focused volunteers.

“When you consider that only 10 per cent of research projects receive government funding, it just shows how important community fundraising events such as the Mother’s Day Classic are so important for those living in regional areas,” Ms Morris said.

Be part of the Mother Day Classic’s on Sunday the 13th of May, held at Bullocky Rest, Joyner.

The event will kick off at 7:30am with a warm-up followed by a walk or run of 4 or 8kms on the morning around the picturesque Forgan trail.

On the day registrations will open at 6am or you still have time to register online, eft available on the day for payment and donations.
